When Network was released in 1976, it was already past its prime. The glory days of the newsrooms were over and sensationalism had replaced rationalism. It looks and feels revolutionary from today’s vantage, but for audiences watching it on the first run, it simply confirmed their suspicions.
Released stateside at last year’s Fantastic Fest, One Cut of the Dead is a low budget zombie flick with The Blair Witch Project on its mind. But the zombie craze (at least this iteration) came and went a few years ago. What commentary could One Cut have that others missed?
