As a justice, Bader Ginsburg is impeachable; as a person of conviction, she is an inspiration. But a subject of inspiration does not an inspirational movie make. How odd that 2018 … Continue reading ON THE BASIS OF SEX

STAR WARS AT 40

A space opera in eight films, five directors, and two studios. A long time ago — May 25, 1977, to be precise — in a Hollywood far, far away, Star Wars took cinematic hearts and minds by storm. She sits upstairs, fretting her future, while downstairs, her fiance and ex-lover (Mackenzie Crook & Luke Treadaway) await her decision.  Will she stay true to her fiance, or will true love, true unbridled-scary-as-hell-what-the-heck-am-I-doing-love triumph? Direction from Donald Rice and out in limited release … Continue reading Movie Beat – 12.07.12
